What is Power Architecture technology?
A: Power Architecture technology is an instruction set architecture that spans applications from consumer electronics to supercomputers. But it's more than that. Facilitated by Power.org, Power Architecture technology forms an enhanced platform for collaborative hardware innovation, with the goal of developing community specifications and supporting development tools that work together to facilitate integration and enhanced implementations.

What is Power.org?
A: The intent to form Power.org was announced December 2004. It is intended that Power.org will serve as the premier open standards organization for developing, enabling and promoting Power Architecture technology and specifications. The community is expected to deliver specifications and guidelines to enable a complete design and manufacturing infrastructure that will resolve many of the technology and business issues hindering hardware development and innovation.

What is the proposed mission of Power.org?
A: Power.org's mission is to develop, enable and promote Power Architecture technology as the preferred open standard hardware development platform for the electronics industry and to administer qualification programs that optimize interoperability and accelerate innovation for a positive user experience.

What are the proposed objectives of Power.org?
A: Power.org's objectives are to develop open standards and specifications, business guidelines documents, best practices and education, certifications to validate implementations and drive adoption of Power Architecture technology.

How are the specifications developed within Power.org?
A: Power.org will develop specifications and manages community building through the collaboration of expert committees that are driven by the Power.org Board of Directors. Possible expert committees include: Operations Committee, Technical Committee, Developer Committee, Compliance Committee and Marketing Committee.

Who will participate in Power.org?
A: Members will represent a worldwide cross-section of semiconductor and Electronics organizations, ranging from SOC firms, tool vendors, foundries, OS vendors, OEMs, Independent Hardware Vendors, Independent Software Vendors and service providers. Power.org will also welcome individual developers, educational institutions and government organizations.

A: Membership in Power.org offers an opportunity the ability to shape and impact the Power Architecture technology innovation. Depending on the level of participation, membership will allow for benefits such as:
