About the Power Architecture Developer Conference

Breaking Down the Barriers to Innovation

On September 24 & 25 2007, Power.org hosted the first-ever Power Architecture™ Developer Conference.  Over the course of the two-day program, the community delivered the most robust and challenging educational curriculum on Power Architecture technology – ever.

Nearly 500 Power users took advantage of this one-of-a-kind opportunity to learn from and talk with the largest concentration of Power Architecture experts ever assembled:

  • Benefiting from Power Architecture education from multiple chip, software, and tool vendors – all in one place at one time.
  • Getting the inside scoop on emerging Power Architecture technologies and roadmaps.
  • Visiting a wide range of solution providers in the Power Architecture community.
  • Experiencing first-hand the power of collaboration with Power Architecture technology.

Conference Highlights

  • Austin Convention Center, Austin TX - September 24 and 25, 2007
  • Nearly 500 attendees networking and collaborating
  • More than 65 hours of technical sessions and labs over two days
  • More than 50 real-world applications demonstrated in the interactive Power Architecture Landscape
  • Industry keynotes from executive speakers and thought leaders

Technical Sessions

Technical training was at the heart of the Power Architecture Developer Conference. Our technical tracks captured a wide range of interests and applications, from automotive SoC architectures to supercomputing applications. The diversity of topics, attendees, and expertise created extraordinary opportunities for the cross-pollination of ideas and the exchange of technical know-how.

Our technical curriculum included these disciplines:
  • Virtualization: Hardware and software perspectives
  • Power Architecture technology in compute-intensive solutions
  • Digital media built on Power Architecture technology
  • Multi-core solutions with Power Architecture technology
  • An Embedded perspective
  • Open source for an open architecture: Software development for the Power Architecture platform
  • Globally green Power Architecture technology

Demonstration Environments

In addition to substantive technical sessions, the conference had three areas for in-depth training and demonstration of Power Architecture technology.

Power Architecture Lab
Hands-on Power Architecture Lab provided users up close and personal looks at some of the most flexble and innovative development and processing platforms in the industry. Trainers walked users through real-world development projects and imparted helpful tips along the way.

Power Architecture Landscape
The Power Architecture Landscape provided an open environment for interacting with a variety of product and technology demonstrations from more than 20 vendors. In this exhibit area, users engaged with industry leaders and experts to discuss shared design challenges and explore the vast landscape of possibility with Power Architecture technology.

Power Architecture Lounge
In order to let users experience the more playful side of Power, attendees spent a lot of energy testing out the Power-based Sony PlayStation® 3, Microsoft Xbox 360™, and Nintendo Wii™..

Special Thanks.

We appreciate everyone who was able to contribute and make this one of a kind opportunity to exchange powerful ideas such a tremendous success in our maiden voyage.   If you have any feedback on the conference or ideas, please send an email to PADCinfo@power.org.  We'd love to hear from you.
