Empowering Innovation & Local Collaboration
Thursday October 25, 2012
Overview
The Power.org Board of Directors welcomes you to the ASIA Power Architecture Conference. The conference theme is
“ThinkPower ChoosePower – Empowering Collaboration and Local Innovation”— heralding 21 years of Power Architecture innovation and acknowledging its key role for the future of interconnected, interactive and intelligent systems.
For the past 21 years, Power Architecture technology has been at the forefront of the digital age. Today, the
Power Architecture dominates the 32/64-bit MPU market making it the number one world-wide market share leader in 32-bit MPUs and the number two world-wide market share leader in 64-bit CPUs.
The technology has a strong future ahead, and we have amassed an impressive collection of industry and government
leaders to share their vision for how Power Architecture technology will lead a new century of smart systems, helping
the world connect, interact and think.
The event is sponsored by IBM, Freescale, C*Core, LSI, Servergy, VeriSilicon and Synopsys. The conference is Supported by CSIA (China Semiconductor Industry Association), SPAST (Shanghai Pudong Association for Science and Technology) and Linux Foundation. We want to thank all of the sponsor companies for sharing their expertise and for demonstrating the broad application of Power Architecture technology and the supporters for the mutual collaboration.
We hope you will leave the conference with insights on why Power Architecture technology is vital to your business—
today and into the future—and think of Power Architecture technology as the foundation for your next smart solution.
Sincerely,
Power.org Board of Directors

| Presenter: | Ronald Luijten, Data Motion Architect, IBM Research GmbH |
| Abstract: | IBM research – Zurich and Astron recently started the 5 year DOME research project, co-funded by the Dutch government, to develop technology roadmaps to build the SKA (Square Kilometer Array) radioastronomy antenna. The DOME microserver demonstrator addresses high density, low-cost and low-power computing requirements in the SKA project. The microserver demonstrator also targetsIBMs anticipated business needs. In this presentation, I will outline the microserver objectives, requirements and show what we are currently building using one of the newest Freescale 64 bit PPC parts. I will furthermore demonstrate that we are able to run IBM business middleware on this platform. |
