Power.org Associate Sponsor at DesignCon 2009
Power.org along with members Cadence, CodeSourcery, Freescale Semiconductor, Green Hills, IBM, IPextreme, Synopsys, Virtutech and Wind River promoted Power Architecture solutions at DesignCon 2009, held February 2-5 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, California.
2 February: Tutorial: Multicore and Virtualization Key Enablers For Next Generation Network Architecture
This tutorial focused on the need for multicore in response to future high performance requirements and in enabling the next-generation class of applications and services with rich multimedia content. A special panel of experts from Freescale, IBM, Wind River and Virtutech explored the needs of multicore SoC and enablement at different stages from Instruction Set Architecture (ISA), Hypervisor, OS, debugging, simulations and IPs.
Agenda:- Brief Market trends driving multicore architecture - Fawzi Behmann (Freescale)
- Multicore SOC Considerations - Jeff Timbs (Freescale)
- Power Architecture Technical Initiatives/Specifications - Nina Wilner (IBM)
- OS multicore enablement - Johan Fornaeus (Wind River)
- Simulation/virtualization support of multicore - Ross Dickson (Virtutech)
- Q&A
3-4 February: Power Architecture Technology Showcase at booth #753
Several Power.org members demonstrated solutions including special demonstrations on high-performance green embedded computing by Freescale, Virtutech's Simics for multicore debug, and embedded virtualization on Power Architecture by Wind River
5 February: Power Architecture Ecosystem Solution Offerings
A full-day session featuring ecosystem solution offerings based on Power Architecture technology from Power.org members Cadence, CodeSourcery, Freescale, Green Hills, IPextreme, Synopsys, Virtutech and Wind River.
