Synopsys offers a complete set of products and services to architect, design, and verify SoC systems built using the PowerPC 440-S and PowerPC 405-S cores in the designers choice of process technology to meet performance, power, cost or other key design objectives.
Synopsys offers synthesizable, process-portable versions of the PowerPC 440 and the PowerPC 405 through its DesignWare Star IP program. Working with IBM, Synopsys Professional Services re-coded the original RTL source code to make it fully synthesizable and re-designed the processors cache memory system to replace custom-designed memories with commonly available on-chip SRAM components. These steps eliminate major cost and design barriers to implementing these cores in any technology.
A coreKit packages the entire set of PowerPC data files and all necessary design methodology scripts in a complete and consistent package. The coreKit makes installation easy and quickly guides designers to optimized results in their choice of process technology. The resulting design achieves high fault coverage and maintains cycle-for-cycle compatibility with existing process-specific designs based on customized memories.
Synopsys provides IP to bridge between the CoreConnect and AMBA AHB on-chip-bus architectures as part of the coreKit. This allows designers to mix and match existing IP blocks from both environments in their SoC designs. Synopsys also offers a broad range of compatible IP products, minimizing the time needed to design and verify a complete Power Architecture based subsystem. The Synopsys coreKit also delivers a set of verification IP for both the processor and subsystems built around the processor.
The PowerPC cores, the CoreConnect-to-AHB bridge and the verification environment are delivered as part of the Synopsys DesignWare Star IP program. DesignWare is used by more than 25,000 designers around the world. Synopsys provides Design Views of the PowerPC 405-S and PowerPC 440-S at no additional cost to these DesignWare customers, allowing them to easily evaluate the use of the PowerPC 440-S or PowerPC 405-S in their designs prior to actually licensing the design. Implementation Views are available for actual implementation in your SoC.
