First Power.org VC symposium, Palo Alto, CA

Power.org arrived in the Silicon Valley to hold its first investor community event. The symposium, held at the Sheraton Hotel in Palo Alto, on December 14, 2005, provided proof points for prospective investors in the Power.org community, as well as discussing the momentum behind Power.org among the VC community.

The symposium focused on technology, growth, and partnership opportunities around Power Architecture. Senior executives from several Power.org members, including Adalio Sanchez, IBM General Manager for pSeries Power Servers, and Dan Dobberpuhl, CEO of P.A. Semi Corporation, participated in the event.

The symposium began with an introduction to Power and Power.org, followed by executive keynotes that discussed the open collaborative approach to business, sharing how the Power Architecture and Power.org are boosting this approach. A panel, comprised of company executive members from Power.org, covered Power’s market pull, ecosystem, and development tools. Subsequent executive panels covered the value of Power.org to VC-backed companies, the process by which disruptive plays are enhanced by Power.org, and one where a set of disruptive business plan proposals were evaluated.

Finally, after a session that provided proof points on Power development tools, infrastructure, and community, there was a networking reception where attendees viewed actual Power-based solutions being built and commercialized by our Power.org partners.
